Aidan is a writer, a/v producer, historian, enthusiast of used cars, and captain of the football team at the Center for Astrophysics | Harvard & Smithsonian.
He works in the Director’s Office of the Center for Astrophysics, where he provides executive support to the leadership team, edits the weekly newsletter, produces the Cosmos for All podcast, and serves as the receptionist to the director.
He was formerly the senior staff reporter on defense, US politics, health, and science in the DC bureau of The Asahi Shimbun, a leading Japanese newspaper. He has also worked as a newsletter researcher at Kaiser Family Foundation Health News, and as a barista at a specialty coffee shop in northern Virginia.
He holds an MA and MSc in international history from Columbia University and the London School of Economics, and a BA in history from the University of Chicago. He studies and writes about imperialism and foreign affairs in Europe and East Asia in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, though he has also published on commercial and political relations in late-Medieval northern Europe. Last but certainly not least, he has worked as a teaching assistant for his grandfather’s Introductory Astronomy class.
